Orange County, California is one of the most highly sought after summer destinations because in a place like this, it feels like vacation all year round. Now that the sun is shining, the weather is warm, and wetsuits are no longer required, there are endless possibilities for fun living on one of California’s most famous pieces of coastline.
Cool Off At A Movie
A beloved past-time for summer among Southern California residents is hitting an afternoon movie where ice cold air conditioning can be relied on. 2018 is expected to be a hot summer on the coast with record breaking numbers. When the afternoon heat becomes too much, head to the movie theater. Check out $1 movie days in Aliso Viejo at the Edwards Theater to keep your movie needs on a budget. If you’ve never tried an all day movie marathon at the theater, this summer is your chance.
Fireworks on or near the beach is a speciality in Orange County. Up and down the coast, there are a variety of Fourth of July Fireworks to choose from. Either inland in the parks or out on the coastline, you can celebrate freedom surrounded by beautiful landscapes.
Outdoor Concert Series
Summer evenings in California are for outdoor concerts. In nearly every major town of Orange County, there are regular outdoor concerts happening. Catch local acts, genre-specific music, cover/tribute bands and more. Pack a picnic, bring some friends, and let the music be your guide.
If you aren’t catching an outdoor concert in the evenings, consider an outdoor movie instead. Once the sun goes down, the temperature goes down with it. Many areas in Orange County have movies in the park, on the beach, or in other outside areas. Check out OC Parks Sunset Cinemas for information.
Orange County Fairgrounds
Every Saturday and Sunday at the OC Fairgrounds you can find a marketplace full of food and vendors, as well as daily concerts for cheap admission. When the beaches are full of tourists, head to a local favorite instead.
Sawdust Art & Craft Festival
The Laguna Beach Sawdust Art & Craft Festival is quite possibly the gem of summertime in Orange County, California. Everyday from June 29-September 2, you can visit the large forested fairgrounds housing music, entertainment, art, and food. Watch glass blowing demonstrations, living art, and famous artworks recreated out of flowers. To see the best of the best, don’t miss the Festival of Arts & Pageant of the Masters.
