LITERARY THERAPY

The Literary Therapy element at Tree House provides our residents (particularly reluctant ones) with an additional platform, one that is free of barriers, judgments and/or peer pressures, where they can write openly about, identify and hopefully gain a much clearer understanding of their issues.

Literary Therapy has been designed and created to perform as a worthy partner to the individual and group therapy psychological components that we offer.

Every incoming resident arrives here with some negative and often painful emotional baggage that their alcohol and/or drug abuse journey has given to them; in the form of ( but not limited to ) fears, resentments, disappointments and failures. It is the mission of our psychological staff at Tree House to aid residents in identifying these troubling pieces of baggage and to provide an environment where they can learn to address these issues in a healthy manner…to put them in their place.

At Tree House we understand that, even in the most optimum individual and group therapy settings, some residents may not feel comfortable and/or secure enough to openly discuss the deepest pieces of their baggage. The Literary Therapy element at Tree House provides our residents ( particularly reluctant ones ) with an additional platform, one that is free of barriers, judgments and/or peer pressures, where they can write openly about, identify and hopefully gain a much clearer understanding of these issues.

An added bonus is that Literary Therapy endows all of our residents with a valuable tool that they will be able to use throughout recovery and on into their new clean and sober lives.
