PROCESS GROUP

It is the mission of our Process Groups to expose our residents, on a daily basis, to other voices by providing a safe and comfortable environment where men can, under the careful guidance of our Group Counselors, listen and learn from the voices of others… others who have been on the same journey as they have.

The men who arrive at TreeHouse Recovery have, with varying degrees of commitment but very similar results, been mired in very unhealthy relationships with an evil mistress known as addiction…the ultimate love-hate dynamic. It has been an extremely selfish and lonely journey.

A very common by-product of addiction is tunnel vision. The maintenance and care of an addiction requires great focus and dedication. In this state, men become very unwilling and often unable to listen to the advice and warnings being offered to them by family members, loved ones and friends. Such things fall on deaf ears. The only voice these men can hear is their own.

At THR, it is the mission of our Process Groups to expose our residents, on a daily basis, to other voices by providing a safe and comfortable environment where men can listen and learn from the voices of others…others who have been on the same journey as they have. Under the careful guidance of our Group Counselors, our residents are ushered down a new path. It is a path that begins with hearing and listening, creates and atmosphere of learning and self-awareness and offers every resident the opportunity to draw on and benefit from the strengths of the entire group.

In doing this and nurturing the process through each stage, our counselors are able to remove the “lonely and selfish” from the equation and replace it with a powerful sense of belonging and care. Once this transformation occurs, personal growth, healing and true recovery can begin.

The professionals of the Physical Empowerment staff at THR fully understand and appreciate the fact that the men coming through our doors have, while in the tangled/twisted embrace of addictions, become strangers to their own physical well being. In fact, a solid argument could be made that the total absence of physical health and wellness was a strong contributor in making them psychologically vulnerable to the world of addictions.

It is the dedicated mission of our Fitness Therapy team at THR, while working closely with our Yoga and Nutrition elements, to lead our residents on their journey back to physical health and fitness, to support them as they savor daily victories and to provide them with valuable behaviors that will sustain them long after they graduate from THR.
